Providence Kids Activity Calendar

At Providence Church, we take family seriously.  That means that we want you to have fun with your children.  And lots of it.  That's why we have developed a simple calendar for you to use with your kids to make learning about Jesus fun and easy.  Now you can take the activities home with you.  Use this web page each day to get your activity or download it and print it out so you can keep it on your fridge.

Weekend of 1 & 2

The Triumphal Entry

3

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people cheered and praised Him. Why do we praise Jesus? List things about Jesus that deserve praise. List things you are thankful for.

4

Have a family talent show where each person performs and everyone cheers. What does it feel like to be cheered for? What would it feel like if instead of cheers they were yelling mean things?

5

Talk to your child about celebrities and heroes and about they way people receive them with applause and excitement. Talk through who is more worthy of our praise, celebrities or King Jesus?

6

Read Zechariah 9:9, Psalm 118:25-26

Talk about how the Old Testament points the way to Jesus.

Read Matthew 21:1-11

How does this verse fulfill the Old Testament prophecy?

7

Gather large leaves and branches and take a walk reenacting the Triumphal Entry. Sing songs to Jesus that tell about how great He is.

Weekend of 8 & 9

The Last Supper

10

During dinner, review the story of the Last Supper and what the bread and wine meant. Talk about the importance of that last meal to Jesus and His disciples.

11

The bread and the wine are to remind us of Jesus' sacrifice for our sins. Draw a picture with your child of other reminders of things Jesus did, lessons He taught, gifts He gives.

12

Invite a friend over for dinner. Take time to talk about memories you share and fun things you've done. When your friend is gone, talk about how it would feel to not see them again.

13

Read Mark 14:17-26

What important lessons can we learn from these verses about loving Jesus most, Jesus' death, and heaven?

14

Make bread with your child - homemade or from a box. As you're cooking, talk about what it means that Jesus is the Bread of Life and why we are supposed to remember His body broken for us.

Weekend of 15 & 16

Jesus in the Garden

17

Talk with your child about how even though Jesus was afraid, it didn't make Him any less perfect. Jesus knew the pain that would come with the cross and His fear didn't negate His obedience.

18

Take a walk with your child to a quiet place away from other people. Explain why it was important for Jesus to go away alone to pray to His Father. Talk about Jesus' emotions and fears at that time.

19

When Jesus was in the Garden, He was afraid but He prayed that God's will be done. Talk with your child about his/her fears, and how God is in control of everything and that He takes care of us even when things are bad.

20

Read Luke 22:39-46. Talk about the importance of each verse - how Jesus prayed regularly, exhorted His disciples, pleaded with God, was comforted, accepted God's will, feared and again exhorted His disciples.

21

Plant a plant or flowers in your yard or purchase a potted plant or flower for your porch. Get your hands dirty! Talk with your child about the new life we find when we accept the gift Christ gave on the cross.

Weekend of 22 & 23

Jesus is Alive!

24

Talk with your child about yesterday's Easter celebration. Why did we celebrate? Why is Easter different from other days or holidays?

25

Eat a special snack today. As you eat, talk about how Jesus is the giver of all good things. His greatest gift was the cross and without it, nothing would be good or hopeful or worthy.

26

Depending on your child's age, talk to some degree about death. Death is a result of sin and since we all sin, we all die a physical death. Talk about Jesus taking that sin on Himself. Talk about Him conquering death.

27

Read Mark 15:25-41 and 16:1-8. Talk about the events of the Crucifixion and Resurrection. What does the Resurrection prove?

28

Do one of your child's favorite activities. Make it a celebration of the Resurrection. Talk about why instead of mourning Christ's death, we celebrate that He rose again and what that means.
